Bde Maka Ska Treasure Map
Bde Maka Ska Park, southwest Minneapolis — pavilion, beach, and the lake loop.
A family outdoor map game: start at the pavilion, claim a playground as home base, walk a stretch of the lake loop, and mark a pretend X. Play the premade sheet as-is, or put your kids’ names on a private family sheet.
Based on Park Treasure Map by QuestHunt. Works at Bde Maka Ska Park (pavilion / beach / lake loop). The original still lives at Park Treasure Map.

Bde Maka Ska
Southwest Minneapolis. The pavilion, a beach playground, and the lake loop are the outing.

A recommendation, not a gate. Toddlers can be the compass; older kids can draw the map.

Walking
A stretch of the lakeshore path is plenty. Stay on the path. Skip anything fenced or unsafe.
The outing (very short)
What you’ll actually do
- 01
Claim a home base
Meet at Bde Maka Ska Pavilion, then pick a playground as home base — or the picnic lawn by the buildings if the swings are a walk. This is a walk, not a concert.
- 02
Play the place hints
Use the hint sheet on this page. Start at the pavilion, claim a playground, and walk a stretch of the lake loop. This is Bde Maka Ska, not Harriet, not Nokomis, not Isles. Skip anything fenced or unsafe.
- 03
Mark a pretend X
Choose a pinecone, pebble, or fallen leaf already on the ground. Scribble an X on the sheet for where you’d hide it next time. The treasure is pretend unless you agree otherwise.
Where you’re going
Start at Bde Maka Ska Pavilion
One static orientation map so you can see the place. This is not a live GPS tour and there is no routed path — the hunt works at the pavilion, a playground home base, and a stretch of the lake loop.

Place notes
A Chain of Lakes city lake with a pavilion
- Bde Maka Ska Park sits in southwest Minneapolis as part of the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes Regional Park. The official park is Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board Bde Maka Ska. The pavilion is the start. The park lists beaches, a picnic area, and a walking path — and playgrounds / tot lots at North Beach and 32nd Street Beach. Enough for a map, a home base, and a pretend X. This is Bde Maka Ska — not Harriet, not Nokomis, not Isles.
- The park is outdoor and generally free to enter. Hours, parking, and beach flags change. Check the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board before you go. Last checked August 2026.
- This edition names a place so parents can see where to stand. It is not a swim calendar. More Minneapolis outings live on the city hub. The original still works at any neighbourhood park.

Hints that only work here
Each box is something you can notice at this park, plus a short true thing about the place. Kid voice is on the sheet. The anywhere clues still live on Park Treasure Map. Nothing is uploaded. Refreshing the page clears the checks.
Park photo slot — empty until we add a mixed-media still of this place.

I called the pavilion our lookout. You pick a playground. This is Bde Maka Ska — not Harriet, not Nokomis, not Isles — then we draw the lake before the snacks win.
